ChamberWorks is designed to produce well-rounded musicians and provide our students with the competitive edge to succeed. The curriculum  is modernized and practical. As part of ChamberWorks all students are required to participate in core classes.

  • MUSIC THEORY- The study of how music works from the inside out. Students will learn key signatures, harmonic structure, improvisation, chord spelling, standard notation, scales and rhythmic structures. 

  • EAR-TRAINING- Developing the ear is crucial. This class will practically train the student for what is necessary in the real world. Skills learned: Instrument Recognition, Interval Analysis, Rhythmic and Melodic Dictation, Error Detection, Chord Recognition, Time Signature Recognition. 

  • DISCUSSING MUSIC- Being able to form an intelligent opinion about music being performed is a necessity for a musician. This learning session allows students to voice their opinions while learning music history. The course topic differs every year. In the past, it has covered "Divas and Death," "Music and Society: State of the Orchestra," among others.


The  center of the ChamberWorks philosophy is chamber music. Chamber music is often over-looked by budding musicians, but it is the most beneficial training tool. Students will learn skills such as leadership, rehearsal techniques, body movement, and breathing. Chamber fosters the musicians' abilities to work in groups, compromise, and deliver constructive criticism. 

Students begin each day in their chamber groups. Groups are then assigned a chamber music coach to facilitate rehearsals and offer guidance and professional assistance. 


ChamberWorks believes that students are best when they are passionate about what they are doing. We give the students a chance to specialize a portion of their time at ChamberWorks, by choosing Special Interest classes. The courses change yearly. Here's representative selection of past courses:

  • PERFORMANCE SUCCESS- Training a musician is just as intense as training athletes. We use tested methods of Sports Psychology to teach students to work with and control their performance anxiety. Students will learn how to audition successfully, prepare excerpts, and master centering techniques. The course exposes students to several mock auditions.

  • COMPOSITION- Have you ever wanted to dictate that melody that plays in your head? Students have the opportunity to learn composition methods and techniques as they have evolved through the ages. The culmination of this session will be the creation and performance of the student's magnum opus. 

  • PHYSICS OF SOUND- What is sound? Why doesn’t a clarinet sound like a bassoon? How does your instrument make noise? We’ll take a close look at the physics of sound and sound production. Throughout the course we’ll engage in several hands-on experiments into the science of acoustics, silence, overtones, materials, and timbre.
